NEW! 11.02.2006!

The first issue of my run on MARVEL ADVENTURES SPIDER-MAN (#21), featuring everyone's Friendly Neighborhood in his spiffy black costume (all in anticipation of Spider-Man 3), went on sale Wedensday.

For those of you who like super hero comics, or have never read Marvel's Adventures line, they do a terrific job of showings kids why comics are the coolest thing ever, and reminds adults what it was that made them love comics in the first place. And each issue is completely self-contained, so every one is the perfect "jumping-on" point.

Wait, that sounds like a line of mine from this Newsarama interview with me... which also showcases other projects I have in the works.

ON COMICS RACKS NOW:

Action Philosophers #6: The People's Choice (Evil Twin)

6 SEPTEMBER 2006

New as of September 6! Not only has Action Philosophers #6: The People's Choice gone on sale, which features the three-most requested thinkers, as voted by you, the fans, at our website; but because of the success of last year's reader's poll, Ryan and I have announced a new one!

Action Philosophers #9 will be the The Lightning Round, in which the RyGuy and I will attempt to cram as many philosophers as we can into one 32-page comic. This is in the spirit of the classic Simpsons episode, "22 Short Films about Springfield." But we probably won't do 22 thinkers.

Hmmm... Or will we?

Regardless, which philosophers we'll do you can vote on write this minute at the official Action Philosophers message board. And you can write in philosophers, too -- If we like 'em, we'll do 'em. Such a deal! (Don't forget you actually need to reigster to the AP board, which takes only a few minutes, before you're allowed to vote.)

23 MARCH 2006

The ACTION PHILOSOPHERS 2006 World Tour continues with stops on two coasts in one week!

On the Left Coast, April 8 and 9 Ryan and I will be appearing at APE, the Alternative Press Expo at the Concourse Exhibition Center in San Francisco.

And then, back home on the Right, we'll be at Jim Hanley's Universe in NYC from 7pm to 9pm, Wed., April 12 signing the just-on-sale AP #5: Hate the French, celebrating with Freedom Fries, Americagne, and other non-Gaulic treats.

Also premiering that day will be Marvel's Restraining Orders Are For Other Girls, which features a romance parody story by me and a hilarious Kyle Baker cover!

UNTOLD TALES OF THE NEW UNIVERSE: NIGHTMASK #1

23 FEBRUARY 2006

Those of you headed to the Javits Center to check out the first-ever New York Comic Con from Feb. 24 through the 26th should be sure to stop by the Action Philosophers table (#AA88 in Artists' Alley), where me and Ryan will hawkin' our funnybooks, including brand-new merchandise like the official Action Philosopher T-Shirt ("Plato SMASH!") and a full-color poster of THE HERO'S JOURNEY from AP #3.

And if you're there on Sunday, be sure to check out the panel "Beyond the Capes & Spandex", an indy roundtable that was foolish enough to include Yours Truly as one of the speakers. But if you sit in the first few rows, be forewarned: You. Will. Get. Wet.

3 FEBRUARY 2006

Next Friday, February 10, at 9:30pm, I'll be at NYC's Rubin Museum of Art in New York City, introducing the silent German expressionist classic The Golem (1920) with a multimedia presentation -- "Monstrous Protectors" -- that traces the history of Jewish folklore's most famous "Creature Feature" through comics, including panels from me and Ryan's ACTION PHILOSOPHERS, including #4: WORLD DOMINATION HANDBOOK ... which goes on sale February 8! Whoo-whoo!

The Golem will be accompanied by live accompaniment from acclaimed musician Gary Lucas. And there's booze all night long! I think Ryan will be there too, so c'mon down and check it out. Full details of the event can be found here, and directions to RMA are here. Oh, and it's $15 a head.

3 NOVEMBER 2005

Just who is that boy band-scruff-wearin' whippersnapper running around ABC these days solving supernatural mysteries as "The Night Stalker"? Where's the birdfeeder hat? Where's the big bulky height-of-'70s-tech tape recorder. Where's DARREN McGAVIN, fer cryin' out loud?!?

I'll tell you where: starring in a collection of 26 new short stories entitled Kolchalk: The Night Stalker Chronicles from the Keepers-of-All-Things-Carl, Moonstone, featuring a brand-spankin' new tale in which Kolachak takes on the United Nations... and since that's where I work, guess who penned that story? That's right, Yours Truly. So if you're looking for some vintage TV chills, check out this tome!

23 SEPTEMBER 2005

Today and Saturday the 24th Ryan "The Fuzzy" Dunlavey and I will be in beautiful Bethesda, Maryland, at the 2005 Small Press Expo hawking our funnybooks, specifically the all-new Action Philosophers: Self-Help for Stupid Ugly Losers (right) which premieres there at the con. We're up for the Ignatz Award for best debut! If you vote for us, I promise Ryan will sleep with you.

In other Action Philosophers news, I'd like to remind y'all that voting is now open for THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE at AP... Can Kant kick Kierkegaard's keister? Will St. Thomas Aquinas open an unholy can of whoop-ass on John Stuart Mill? Is Diogenes the Cynic gonna get Pre-Socratic on Epicetus the Stoic's hind parts?

If that paragraph made any sense to you whatsoever, or you just need more of an excuse to goof off at work, RUN DON'T WALK to the official ActPhilo site and cast your vote for your favorite thinker. We will profile the top three vote-getters in the PEOPLE'S CHOICE issue, set to premiere at the 2006 MoCCA Art Festival. You'll need to sign up for our MESSAGE BOARD in order to do so, but don't worry -- we'll use your email address for good, never evil.

5 MARCH 2005

Hey, look! I have a web site. This is going to be a clearinghouse for all news and information on my past and upcoming projects, including April's Amazing Fantasy #7 and Action Philosophers #1.

Many thanks to my AP homey Ryan Dunlavey for building my web site. Were it biologically possible, I would bear his children.
